This gage tracking software over the internet is currently under construction. Currently the working title is "Absolute Gage" will have functionality of the more mainstream gage tracking software with a few key differences.
First of all it’s going to be done over the internet. This has some pros and cons, while server backups may be done on a regular basis, some corporations may have different standards when these backups are done, so to appease these differences in the end this software will have total backup, and restore functions for each user or facility that has an account.
Standard traceability, while some software has this functionality this will have an absolute definition of every gage from the end of the traceable standard. This will be set in stone at the entry of the gage or time of calibration/verification. In the end there will be no way to make a gage useable through this software without that traceability. On top of this resolution will be set in a linear structure, gages that cannot be used to verify a calibration with the correct resolution ratio from the master gage to the gage it’s checking.
Architecture for calibrating a family of gages will only need to be set once. Calibration test points will be set up once, and then be used for all gages that are the same. Other software requires these points to be set up and copied to other gages. So if a change is made plant wide on the way a gage is verified, one change is made. Also these same gage families will have R&R, linearity, stability and any other studies done at that level, if your corporation doesn’t require an R&R on each and every gage, they can be done at the family level only.
Reporting is ultra simple and can be set up easily through the reporting features; also all activity on the back end of the site is recorded. Not only can you get a report of all gages that need calibrated this week, you can also get the activity of what a certain user did between two specific times. Users can’t sneeze in the back end without it being recorded making accountability absolute.
